Mirror

MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL

When was the last time you praised yourself?  Ever looked at the mirror lately and took a serious look at you?  Probably, if I were to make a quick survey about 99.9% of those mirror-lookers will find something wrong about themselves, I was a victim once myself.

How I wish my legs are that long, my body that slender, my eyes that captivating...Why am I this chubby, why are my teeth looks as if they don't know each other? Why do I have to be a munchkin, while others get to be so tall and slender? I should have had the lips of Angelina Jolie.  Life is so unfair! Sounds like the infamous attack of feature discontentment.  Contrary to the common notion, the victims are not solely composed of the female population; even the "masculine" ones are prone to this type of insecurity. But hey, things aren't that bad. As a matter of fact , they could have been much worst.  Take for instance the tallest man, the woman with the longest neck or the fattest person in the world. They too, peer in the mirror and see those same features that are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records but cause them numerous instances of embarrassment in social situation.  But, do we hear them complaining and whining all the time? No. That's because they accept what's given to them and made use of it.  That is the way they recognize themselves and the way most of us should do. After all, genuine beauty is not what the eyes can see; it is in the heart or the inner us that need to be seen.

So, next time you glance at the mirror, try appraising your positive aspects.  Keep in mind that, your nose could have been as long as Pinocchio's, but God did not allow that to happen. Love yourself; nobody would do it for you.
